Hotel Details:
Hyatt Centric Hong Kong is opened in the 3rd Quarter of 2019 which makes it the first Hyatt Centric hotel in the Greater China region.
Points vs Cash Value Analysis
This is also a Award Category 3 property which costs 12,000 per night for awards redemption. On normal days, this would be a hotel that costs around HKD 1,000-1,500 per night taking into account and peak periods towards HKD 2,000 per night
At 1.9¢/point valuation: 12,000 pts = ~$228 USD (HKD 1,780)
Off-Peak Cash Rate: As low as HKD 1,000–1,500
Hence, for 12,000 pts redemption, math favors redemption when cash rates exceed HKD 1,800 per night, which unfortunately even during peak period, the highest rate that I’ve seen does not exceed this rate per night. Thus, it would be more favourable for you to use cash instead of points for this property, with consideration towards the cash rates that you will be paying.

Booking & Check-In
Booked directly through World of Hyatt for the Victoria Harbour View King Room —though no upgrades were available due to high occupancy from holiday travelers. For travelers seeking Victoria Harbour views without the premium price tag of five-star competitors, Hyatt Centric Hong Kong stands out as one of the most budget-friendly options on Hong Kong Island.
Situated on Hong Kong Island, North Point, this property delivers spectacular harbour vistas at a fraction of the cost of nearby luxury hotels like Conrad or Grand Hyatt.

Perfectly positioned just 1-2 minutes from North Point MTR Station (Exit A1) and a short stroll from the North Point Ferry Pier, this hotel offers effortless access to Hong Kong’s key destinations while letting you experience the city’s authentic local charm. Travelling to Central will take roughly 10 minutes via the MTR, and this makes exploring Hong Kong’s business and shopping hubs convenient, yet the neighborhood’s laid-back vibe provides a welcome escape from the tourist crowds of Tsim Sha Tsui or Causeway Bay.
Airport transfers cost around HKD 300 by Uber/taxi (45-minute ride) which was fair in my opinion.

The hotel is split into 2 parts – the East and West building and forms part of a vibrant mixed-use complex, with a shopping mall (Harbour North) at its base and the check-in is located on the 2nd floor. With 665 pet-friendly guest rooms and suites across its two towers, Hyatt Centric Hong Kong offers ample accommodation options, though it’s worth noting that access to the Victoria Harbour Lounge is not included with standard bookings.
Guests seeking lounge privileges may need to upgrade their room category or explore elite status benefits through the World of Hyatt program.

The Room
Our room is located on the 7th floor and upon entering the room, you will be greeted by a hallway with the bathroom on the right and the bedroom right ahead.
The Victoria Harbour Lounge at Hyatt Centric Hong Kong provides exclusive access for guests staying in premium room categories or booking that includes the lounge access – The lounge offers breakfast, afternoon tea, and evening cocktails complemented by stunning harbor views. Alongside culinary perks, guests enjoy two hours of complimentary boardroom use daily, making it ideal for business travelers or those seeking a more elevated stay. Unfortunately, my booking did not include this lounge access nor my membership entails me to the access of this lounge and hence there will be no post regarding this.
This property is also on the larger end of the spectrum compared to most hotels in Hong Kong where hotel rooms averaged between 150 to 250 sqft.

From the room’s Victoria Harbour view, you’ll spot some signboard across the waters (from the Kowloon end) that are dazzling during the festive period – such as New Year’s countdown when the skyline erupts in synchronized lights and lasers.

Bathroom
The bathroom features marble-clad walls and a sleek, contemporary design befitting a hotel that opened in 2019, offering both a rain shower head and a handheld sprayer by Grohe for versatility.

While the shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner are unbranded, the hotel provides surprisingly rare extras like toothbrush, toothpaste, and a vanity kit—elegantly packaged in decorative boxes—a thoughtful touch many upscale hotels have phased out. Water pressure is strong and consistent, adding to the comfortable, well-considered experience.

Minibar
First up: the empty mini-bar fridge. No overpriced snacks or drinks here—just cold, empty space waiting for your 7-Eleven haul. Honestly? I prefer this. Nothing worse than accidentally bumping a HKD $50 Pringles can and getting charged.
The mini bar also comes with a Nespresso Essenza Mini machine (with capsules) and the Goviv Tea selection. If you haven’t heard of Goviv, they’re a local Hong Kong brand proving that good tea doesn’t need to cost a fortune.

Not forgetting a quirky feature – the water distiller machine, which looks like a sleek sci-fi gadget… until you realize it’s not hooked up to any water line. You manually fill the tank at the rear like some kind of 19th-century pioneer.
Is it eco-friendly? Sure. Slightly impractical? Maybe. A fun conversation starter? Absolutely.

Entertainment & Power
One of the standout features in the guest rooms is the 49-inch IPTV complete with a soundbar – a thoughtful upgrade from standard hotel televisions. The impressive audio-visual setup allows guests to enjoy movies, news programs, and streaming content with enhanced clarity and sound quality, particularly where there are plenty of local TVB shows that are readily available with just some buttons-press away.

The room uses Type G power outlets as standard, complemented by convenient USB charging ports at the bedside. While international travelers will need to bring appropriate adapters, the inclusion of USB ports helps accommodate modern charging needs for smartphones and other devices.

Pool & Gym
Perched atop the hotel at 22F, the 25-meter rooftop infinity pool offers guests a serene escape with its jacuzzi jets, 6 daybeds, and breathtaking panoramic views of Victoria Harbour. This elevated oasis provides the perfect setting for relaxation while taking in Hong Kong’s iconic skyline. Perhaps even better during sunset, if you are in the hotel.
It’s also good to note that the pool is more gram-worthy than an actual swimming session.

Just steps behind that Instagram-famous infinity pool lies what might be the hotel’s sneakiest luxury: a fully-equipped gym where even the dumbbells and treadmills get harbour views. Beyond the cardio theater, you’ll find ample weights and equipment, chilled wet towels, and a drinks machine.

Then there’s the changing room which features a sauna and steam rooms that is well tucked inside.

Value Verdict
This hotel delivers spectacular Victoria Harbour views at 30-40% lower rates than comparable luxury properties, making it a smart cash-paid option for value-focused travelers—especially given its convenient North Point location that is located very closely to MTR.
However, with limited daybeds by the pool, unbranded amenities, and poor award redemption value and long travel towards Kowloon’s tourist attraction (>20 mins), it’s best suited for those prioritising harbour vistas and convenience over full luxury polish. I wouldn’t complain for this price as the property has well done its work.
